Kinzie is a professional photographer based in the heart of KC, but she isn’t your run-of-the-mill shooter. No snapping weekend weddings and family portraits; the focus of Kinzie’s photography business, called Empowerment Studio, is inclusive boudoir photography for queer and plus-sized customers!
Over the last 13 years, Kinzie has built her business to be a “safe space that doesn’t just ‘accept’ these communities but instead celebrates them.” For Kinzie, her work is not just a formulaic snapping of photos. She says, “It’s about looking within and showcasing what makes you special and unique.”
During the BTB conversation with Kinzie, you sense just how powerful boudoir photography can be. Beyond just posing for photos, Kinzie notes that many subjects have said that through the experience they’ve uncovered a deeper sense of self-love and self-confidence.
